ILE Short Form Video 1: Default 25L

This is the first of several short form videos for Berkeley based bag company Inside Line Equipment. This video features their 25L Default bag. I love the scene that the videographer and talent depict here -> movement, city, motion. There’s an off-kilter piano riff that provides a fun counterpoint to the uniform drive of the beat and chords. I love the challenge and nuance of creating just enough energy musically to accompany the visuals of short-form video. This is a piece I will always be proud of.

ILE Short Form Video: 24L Apex

For this song I went with a more ethereal outside vibe, the tune breathes. There’s no bassline to be found and I think the simplicity of this arrangement allows for the atmosphere of the outdoor narrative to shine.

ILE X Shogun Shido Collaboration

This is a collaboration between ILE and Oakland based artist Shogun Shido. From ILE’s website piece on the collaboration:

Oakland-based artist Shogun Shido is an innovative creator who hails from New Orleans and uses art to explore the depths of introspection and observation. Shido’s expressive, free-flowing line work is immediately recognizable. From canvases to murals, clothing, sculptures, wine bottles and more, his ever-expanding body of work bridges all mediums. We met Shido through a mutual friend last year and quickly connected over our shared passion for creative expression.

Over the past few months we’ve been working on a special collaboration featuring a custom painted 1000D Cordura, which started out as one continuous length of fabric before being cut down into panels for our signature Default. The panels were cut and placed at random while maintaining the orientation of the original painting, with drips and splatters cascading down the bags. This is a limited edition of three bags––each piece is one of a kind, and includes a signed and numbered artist label.

This track draws inspiration from one of Shido’s playlists that he listens to while doing his art practice. Smooth electric piano with intermittent organ lines to break up the vibe. This track is an exercise is restraint - the protagonist is the the collaboration and the dialogue Shido presents - the music is the mood setter, helping to move the story along but never center stage.

Good Fishing SS23 Trailer

This song for Good Fishing’s Spring/Summer 2023 Collection teaser captures a motorcycle’s free-flowing journey over a dusty road. The echo at the end ushers the piece into the future, complementing the forward motion of the visual.

Good Fishing FW23 Trailer

The soundtrack to Good Fishing’s Fall/Winter 2023 Teaser is derived from a mood board encapsulated by the brand’s accompanying text to the collection: “Amplitude; a study of ebb and flow.”. I wrote the piano melody after learning of some sad family news, alone in the dark with the screen of the electric keyboard turned off. I then worked with the brand to leave certain chords slightly out of rhythem, to let the melody ebb and flow on the beat. The drums are inspired by Yusef Lateef’s Love Theme From The Robe - Rudy Van Gelder Remaster.

Vincent Miranda x Good Fishing for NTWRK

Vincent Miranda’s collaboration with Good Fishing was fresh, colorful, and physically conspicuous with its silicone floral shapes bursting from an all-cotton tee. I went with a synth sound that reminded me of lemonade and let the drums come into focus as the camera zooms into Vincent’s hands leading the work. This trailer was published on NTWRK’s livestream shopping platform to promote Good Fishing’s exclusive artist interview / launch event for this collaboration.

Another Cast: A Short Film by Good Fishing

Good Fishing’s short film Another Cast showcased vignettes inspired by the creators behind the brand - lemonade by the pool, conversations in the studio, and casual moments driving through town. Sunny electric piano and goth-rock inspired drums are the key elements of this 4-song soundtrack.

COMMERCIAL Samples

These are samples of song ideas that could accompany social media, commercial, or long-form projects.

Commercial Sample 1 - Jelly Jam

Jelly jam feels smooth - electric piano chords revolve around a pulsating bass, with notes of summer.

Commercial Sample 2 - The Tunnel

The first part of this tune feels like a speeding car heading towards a tunnel. Once inside distorted bass comes out of nowhere, directing a new energy.
